Organic Church...

no, it's not a type of health food church.  but in a way it is the description of a "healthy" church.  and when i say "church" i don't mean denomination, building or doctrine...i mean the people Jesus calls his bride.

organic church is simply when the church as God had in mind manifests itself spontaneously because of a desire to grow closer to Christ and not our preferences, our buildings, our doctrines or ourselves.  an organic church exists to know God.  it is a community of believers who live life together with Christ as the head and not some board of deacons or any other form of physical representation of leadership.

they cooperate, live authentically and are in each others business; not because they are looking to down the person, but to build each other up and support each other as Christ has called us to do.

this is all a part of my re-thinking church.  i've looked at the "emerging church" culture and ideas and now i'm exploring the "organic church" realm.  all i know is, the institutionalized version is sorely lacking and is in need of a serious overhaul.

any thoughts?

sounds like you're right on the money... this is something west shore looked for and strived toward. I hate calling myself an "episcopalian" and hate when others call themselves "baptist" or "lutheran" or any other denomination because they have become dividing lines for christians and are keeping us from being the united body that Christ intended us to be. Having said that... breaking away from any diocese that supports a church financially can lead to problems, (take west shore for example) but i also believe that if Jesus has given you a passion in your heart about this that you should act on it!
Ill be praying for Him to give you a discerning heart on this matter, and once again i am in total agreement with your thoughts :)
