Re-thinking the Christian life...

Over the last week I have begun what I would call a re-thinking of the Christian life and have begun to read many articles, and soon books that are helping me to re-think what it REALLY means to be a Christian.

Do I, at this point, agree with everything I am reading?  No.  Will I agree wholly with what I am reading?  Probably not.  But what it is doing for me is causing me to really sit and think about what it is that I believe.

I am re-discovering God.  I am re-discovering who I am in Him.  I am re-discovering how we as a church relate to Him.  And frankly, I'm worried about where we are as a church, and where we're headed if changes don't come.

The writers of the articles and books that I am reading, on the other hand, have revealed that there is an under-current of change taking place in our country.  Christians are growing tired of the institutionalized version of Christ that we are force fed every week and giving it up for, as the author names it, an "Organic Church" approach.

What does all this mean?  I'm not sure yet.  I'm still re-examining everything.  But, there is something stirring in my chest that I can't quite control.  Its scary and exciting all at the same time.  I know that many of my friends and family probably won't like it, but I can't concern myself with that.  I have to follow where God the Father is leading me.

Pray with me as 2009 opens itself to a whole new world.  A refreshing look at life and God.
