so i did a little experiment on Sunday morning this last week. during our regularly scheduled fellowship time in the service i decided to mix things up a bit. i asked that everyone find 1 person they feel they can open up to and tell them of 1 thing that they are struggling with right now in their life and then pray for each other.
i was scared. i thought people would sit there, or just continue on with fellowship time as usual....BUT...they did it. i saw old going to young and young to old. i saw people going to our pastor. i saw people going to their spouses, or friends or in some cases people they didn't really know that well. but most of all...i saw people intentionally praying for each other.
THAT WAS AWESOME!!
this week, i'm going to try something else. instead of praying for that struggle, i want them to go to a different person and tell them of 1 thing that God did in their life during this past week and then offer it up in a prayer of praise to God.
we'll see how it goes.
i've done all this because i really really REALLY want to see a more authentic atmosphere and i feel as worship leader i am somewhat responsible for helping to facilitate that on Sunday mornings (with the hope that it will spill out into their daily life). i am hoping that through this i can help teach our church the meaning of true "fellowship". after all our churches name is "fellowship" and why not reflect our name.

another note, we are down to our last 2 Sunday's with Lance as our pastor. i sure am going to miss that man and his family. he is one of the best pastors i have served under and he will be greatly missed by me and hopefully the rest of the church.
we are now in search of an interim and then a new pastor. pray for us in this time of transition. i have never been in such a position where i'm the only paid staff left with no pastor. we are in need of guidance from God and we need to feel his hand in all that we do.
